First Aid at Work

Having identified that a First Aider is needed, the employer has assessed the need to provide First Aid at Work training for their First Aiders.

Who needs this course?

This is mandatory training for any person needing to fill the role of a First Aider in the workplace.

What environment is this aimed at?

All UK and overseas business which wish to comply with current UK legislation, Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations.

What is covered?

During this 18 hour course the following is covered:

  •  Acting safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  •  Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  •  Treating an unconscious casualty (including seizure)
  •  Choking
  •  Wounds and bleeding
  •  Shock
  • Minor injuries
  • Preventing cross infection, recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment
  • Fractures
  • Sprains and strains
  • Spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Severe burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes

How is it assessed?

Assessment of the First Aid at Work course is carried out by external assessors. The final assessment will include acting safely, promptly and effectively in managing: an unconscious casualty; a non breathing casualty (to include action for vomiting); and a casualty with wounds and bleeding.

There is also tutor led assessment on an ongoing basis.

Simply First Aid is licensed to deliver HSE approved training. Certificates, valid for 3 years, will be issued for this course.
