Activity First Aid

This qualification, and the learning outcomes covered thereby, is based on the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications. QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF) is registered on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) regulated by Ofqual.

The aim of the qualification is to enable Learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

Intended audience

The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation whilst undertaking activities, such as sports, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, etc.

Structure of the qualification

This qualification is comprised of two mandatory units with a total value of 2 credits with 20 guided learning hours*

*Guided learning hours are provided as a guide to the estimated hours an average Learner would study to gain the unit. This does not have to be face to face instructional time and can include self directed study at home, such as reading course handouts and further self study.

Learner outcomes

The Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid has two units that Learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

First Aid Essentials

Management of Illness and Injury in Activities

  • Understand the role & responsibilities of a first aider.
  • Be able to assess an incident.
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
  • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
  • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding.
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.
  • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
  • Conduct a secondary survey
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head, neck and back injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest and abdominal injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with thermal injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with eye injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylactic shock
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
  • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

Course cost

The Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid is delivered in-house for clients across the UK and globally at a time to suit you. The cost of this, inclusive of learner resources, handouts, First Aid Made Easy books and certificates*, is from just £900.00 for up to 12 people. 

A certificate valid for 3 years is issued by Simply First Aid*.
