First Aid at Work Annual Refresher

This qualification is based on the HSE training standard for delivery of Annual Refresher training courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to refresh the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

Intended audience

The qualification is designed for qualified first aiders who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation, who need to refresh their skills as recommended by the HSE and to avoid “skill fade”.

Structure of the qualification

This qualification is currently 3 guided learning hours.

Learner outcomes

The Annual Refresher training has one unit that Learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

Annual Refresher

  • Know how to assess an incident.
  • Be able manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.

 Course cost

The First Aid at Work Annual Refresher training course is delivered in-house for clients across the UK and globally at a time to suit you. The cost of this, inclusive of learner resources, handouts and certificates*, is from just £360.00 for up to 12 people. 

A certificate is issued by Simply First Aid*.
