This qualification, and the learning outcomes covered thereby, is based on the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications.

The aim of the qualification is to enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of life threatening emergency situations. Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first responder.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to children (including babies) when dealing with an emergency situation.

Note: This qualification does not fulfil Ofsted’s first aid requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and child minders (as defined within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 and within The Child Care Register guide).

Structure of the qualification

This qualification is comprised of one unit with 2 guided learning hours.

Learner outcomes

The Paediatric Life Support qualification has one unit that Learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

Paediatric Life Support

  • Know how to assess an incident using a stepwise approach.
  • Be able manage an unresponsive child or baby who is breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive child or baby who is not breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage a child or baby who is choking.

 

Course cost

The Paediatric Life Support training is delivered in-house for clients across the UK and globally at a time to suit you. The cost of this, inclusive of learner resources, handouts, Emergency First Aid Made Easy books and certificates, is from just £300.00 for up to 12 people.

A certificate valid for  12 months is issued by Simply First Aid.
