Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator

This qualification, and the learning outcomes covered thereby, are based on the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications.

The aim of the qualification is to enable Learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with the use of an Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe use of the AED in emergency situations.

Intended audience

The qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to use an AED when dealing with an emergency situation.

Structure of the qualification

This qualification is based on 4 guided learning hours *

The minimum face to face time that the Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator qualification should be delivered in is 3 hours.

The Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator has one unit that learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

  • Be able to demonstrate CPR and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.
  • Understand safety considerations when using an automated external defibrillator.

The Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator course is delivered in-house for clients across the UK and globally at a time to suit you. The cost of this, inclusive of learner resources, handouts, CPR and AED Made Easy books and certificates*, is from just £300.00 for up to 12 people. 

A certificate is issued by Simply First Aid*.
