Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice
This 1 day course provides you with an overview of typical emergency that could occur within dental practice. Topics covered include: asthma; allergies and anaphylaxis; choking; cardiac emergencies; hypoglycaemia; seizures and fainting as well as cardio pulmonary resuscitation; the unconscious casualty; use of oxygen, defibrillation and auto-injector units (Epipen / Anapen).

Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to practice and perform stepwise management of the casualty (ABCDE), recovery position, CPR, use of a defibrillator and oxygen and also the treatment for a choking casualty.
Assessment is on an ongoing basis with instructors using questioning and observation to check that you met the objectives of the course.
As well as your ongoing professional development have you considered your legal requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
