“When cardiac arrest happens, knowing what to do matters. Confidence comes from practising it.”

Healthcare organisations should provide resuscitation training appropriate to the role and responsibilities of their staff and maintain competence through appropriate refresher training.

Course Overview

Our Adult BLS: CPR & AED course provides a focused, practical refresher in adult basic life support. It is designed for clinical teams who already have previous training and want to maintain their confidence and competence in responding to cardiac arrest.

The session focuses on high-quality CPR, safe and effective use of an AED and coordinated team response. Training is practical and hands-on, allowing participants to practise the skills rather than simply discuss them.

This is a concise refresher session for practices that want to update their team's core resuscitation skills without undertaking a longer medical-emergency course.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants should be able to:

  • Recognise cardiac arrest and initiate an appropriate emergency response.

  • Perform effective adult CPR.

  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.

  • Coordinate CPR and defibrillation within a clinical team.

  • Recognise the importance of early emergency activation and continued resuscitation.

  • Demonstrate appropriate practical BLS skills in simulated scenarios.

Learner Assessment

Learners are assessed throughout the course through direct observation of practical skills. The trainer records performance against the key skills covered during the session and provides feedback and opportunities for further practice where required.

The Practical Assessment Papers are:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Practical Assessment - Adults

  • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator Practical Assessment - Adults

Who is this for?

  • Dental practices and dental teams.

  • GP and primary-care practices.

  • Aesthetic and other clinical practices.

  • Healthcare professionals and support staff who require a BLS refresher.

  • Teams seeking a short, focused update in CPR and AED use.
